The Knights of North Castle are off on a quest to find the Great Armor...  but this armor is not made of metal!  Stories from the King's Book provide clues to help find the Breastplate of Justice, the Shield of Faith, and the Helmet of Salvation!  Join us Mon-Wed, June 7-9, 2021, from 6 to 8 pm for songs, games, crafts, snacks and Bible stories.  Vacation Bible School is free to all community and church members.

Woodforest Presbyterian Church is getting ready for Vacation Bible School 2021 - the Knights of North Castle: Search for the King's Armor.

Join us on a quest for the Breastplate of Justice, the Shield of Faith, and the Helmet of Salvation, while children learn to be strong in the Lord.  This annual event includes Bible stories, crafts, songs, and games, and is free to both church and community members.

Marjory Sutton preached during the Installation of her daughter, Rev. Karen Estes. She spoke about the many moving coincidences (no, she called them God-incidences) which led Karen to be called to ministry.

Woodforest Presbyterian Church is blessed to welcome three new members - Joseph, Jeff, and Jon-Paul!

On Pentecost Sunday (5/22/2021) we receive the Pentecost Offering for Children at Risk, Youth, and Young Adults.  

*  40% of the collection stays with our congregation to develop and support programs for young people in our own church and community.
*  25% supports Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) serving in communities around the world and growing as leaders through transformative Christian Service.
* 25% supports Ministries with Youth including the Presbyterian Youth Triennium.
* 10% is devoted to children at-risk to improve education and provide safe havens.

The gifts we share will help young people learn important lessons about life and faith.  Most importantly, this special collection is an investment in our greatest resource - the young people who will grow into tomorrow's leaders. 

Checks may be mailed to the church or placed in the donation box during inperson worship.

Pentecost is the day in our church calendar that marks the birth of the Christian church.  At the first Pentecost, the Holy Spirit, in the form of doves or tongues of fire, descended upon the disciples and gave them the courage to spread their faith.  In remembrance of this event, we dress ourselves (and our sanctuary) in the color red.  Here you can see red ribbons waiting for our congregation to arrive!

This year, our Pentecost worship service will include a baptism and the addition of three new members.  Following the service, we have refreshments in the courtyard.  And following that, Reverend Karen Estes will be officially installed as our installed pastor.  A reception follows.

At Woodforest Presbyterian Church, we will be holding the following Holy Week activities:

• MAUNDY THURSDAY (4/1/2021) - Rev. Karen Estes will post a Maundy Thursday Meditation on Facebook.
• GOOD FRIDAY (4/2/2021) - Tenebrae Worship service will be held at 7pm on Facebook Live. This “service of the shadows” reminds us of Christ’s suffering and death on the cross.
• EASTER SUNDAY (4/4/2021) – 10:00 am Worship and Communion on Facebook Live. We join in the joyous celebration of Jesus’ resurrection and God’s love.  Alleluia - the tomb is empty!
• FLOWERING OF THE CROSS - This strikingly beautiful display on the church grounds is a visual symbol of the new life that is promised through Christ.

This Easter season, we will be collecting one of our four special offerings.  This special offering is for One Great Hour of Sharing, which provides assistance worldwide for disaster recover, for alleviating hunger, and for the self-development of peoples. For example, in our own area this fund has:

• Supported Katy Responds to help with long-term recovery from natural disasters,
• Helped First Presbyterian Church Sugar Land repair storm damage at their church,
• Provided long-term help with recovery efforts from Hurricanes Laura (2020) and Harvey (2017).
• Installed two showers at Pines Presbyterian for the use of volunteer teams during disaster cleanup, 
• Helped First Presbyterian Church Orange and Trinity Presbyterian Church recover from Hurricane Laura, and
• Repaired the roof on Woodforest Presbyterian Church when it was damaged in a storm.
