Many thanks to Rev. Dr. Jim Gill, who guided our congregation through the transition to a new minister. On Palm Sunday, Jim preached his last sermon for Woodforest Presbyterian Church - the video can be found here. After a brief reception, Jim exited the church carrying the last few items to go - his shepherd's crook and his guitar! Thank you for your steadfast service, Jim!
This photo shows Rev. Dr. Jim Gill and a dedicated member of the congregation (her shirt says so!) as they help prepare our Drive-By Chicken Dinners. They were they ever delicious! It was also great to see everyone - even if it was through the car windows. Thanks to all who made it happen!
Many thanks to the members of the church and the community who donated blood to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood coach at Woodforest Presbyterian Church on 3/26/2021. The Big Freeze forced the blood bank to close down for a week, and their supplies were very low.
Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner! As the pandemic tightened its grip, we suspended all communal dinners as a way to keep everyone safe and healthy. Now, we are trying a new way to eat together safely! We will be holding a Drive-By Chicken Dinner On Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 11am to 2pm. Dinners are $10 per plate, and include BBQ chicken quarters and all the fixin's such as potato salad and beans. Desserts and drinks are available for an additional charge. Reserve your dinner now by leaving a message on the church answering machine at 713-453-7314. Enjoy!
The Houston Blood Bank lost critical blood donations while they were closed down during the recent freeze. They have requested emergency assistance in re-building their blood supplies. The Bloodmobile will be available in the parking lot of Woodforest Presbyterian Church on Friday March 26, 2021 from 2-5 pm. Please donate if you are able!
Our teens typically attend Conclaves, an annual retreat at Camp Cho Yeh. For safety during the pandemic however, this year's retreat will look somewhat different. Friday and Sunday will be virtual sessions via Zoom, while Saturday will be an all day in-person event (with mandatory pandemic procedures, such as masks, etc). This year's mission project will consist of putting together hygiene kits for those persons experiencing homelessness in the Houston area. Woodforest Presbyterian Church needs your help to collect the following supplies for this Mission Project:
Congratulations to Kristie and Mike, who celebrated their wedding at Woodforest Presbyterian Church on March 6, 2021!
