Many thanks to the members of the church and the community who donated blood to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood coach at Woodforest Presbyterian Church on 3/26/2021. The Big Freeze forced the blood bank to close down for a week, and their supplies were very low.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner! As the pandemic tightened its grip, we suspended all communal dinners as a way to keep everyone safe and healthy. Now, we are trying a new way to eat together safely! We will be holding a Drive-By Chicken Dinner On Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 11am to 2pm. Dinners are $10 per plate, and include BBQ chicken quarters and all the fixin's such as potato salad and beans. Desserts and drinks are available for an additional charge. Reserve your dinner now by leaving a message on the church answering machine at 713-453-7314. Enjoy!
The Houston Blood Bank lost critical blood donations while they were closed down during the recent freeze. They have requested emergency assistance in re-building their blood supplies. The Bloodmobile will be available in the parking lot of Woodforest Presbyterian Church on Friday March 26, 2021 from 2-5 pm. Please donate if you are able!
Our teens typically attend Conclaves, an annual retreat at Camp Cho Yeh. For safety during the pandemic however, this year's retreat will look somewhat different. Friday and Sunday will be virtual sessions via Zoom, while Saturday will be an all day in-person event (with mandatory pandemic procedures, such as masks, etc). This year's mission project will consist of putting together hygiene kits for those persons experiencing homelessness in the Houston area. Woodforest Presbyterian Church needs your help to collect the following supplies for this Mission Project:
Congratulations to Kristie and Mike, who celebrated their wedding at Woodforest Presbyterian Church on March 6, 2021!
We traditionally make Lenten Devotionals available to our congregation - this year they are digital! On Sunday, February 7, 2021, we collected our Souper Bowl of Caring offering. Canned goods were donated to the student pantry at San Jacinto College and cash donations were forwarded to North Channel Assistance Ministries. Thank you for your generous hearts!
A Congregational Meeting was held following our worship service on 1/31/2021. During this meeting, we first heard a report on the 2021 Budget. We then voted on a motion to dismiss (with thanks!) the 2020 nominating committee and elect the 2021 nominating committee. Members cast their votes via Facebook, phone or in-person. Following the service, all votes were tallied and the motion passed.
On Christmas Eve, Rev. Dr. Jim Gill lead us in a candlelight worship service for celebrants both at home and in person. This service was distinguished by several special guest musicians, including: Wille B Arenas on guitar; Jeff Hoofard on percussion; Molli McMills on French horn; Erin Allison on oboe; and Laurie Conner singing “O Holy Night”. A Congregational Meeting was held following worship services on 12/6/2020. At this meeting, we voted on a motion from the Nominating Committee to elect two members for the Session (Class of 2023) and one member as Trustee (Class of 2023). Six members were also elected for the Pastor Nominating Committee, which has the very-important task of finding a new permanent pastor for Woodforest Presbyterian Church. Many thanks to all for their willingness to serve!
