CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS!

The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are called ADVENT, which means "coming". During this time, we prepare ourselves for the coming of the Christ Child. The sanctuary fills with poinsettias. A Chrismon tree is covered with white and gold Christian symbols, and our children present their annual Advent Play. A small manger scene in the sanctuary begins with an empty stable. As the weeks pass, the stable slowly fills with animals, Mary and Joseph, shepherds, angels - and finally the baby Jesus in a manger!

Our LIVE NATIVITY is held in mid-December so that we can all travel to Bethlehem and re-enact the Christmas story. A stable on the grounds of Woodforest Presbyterian Church shelters goats, sheep, a camel - and the manger of course! Costumes are provided for shepherds, angels and wise men of all ages and sizes. For the safety of all concerned, this event was cancelled in 2020. If the pandemic eases, we plan on holding this event as usual in 2021.

At 7:30 pm on CHRISTMAS EVE, we blend candles, carols and the Christmas story together in a candlelight worship service.
