COMMUNION AT WOODFOREST DURING THE PANDEMIC
At the last Session meeting we discussed implementing communion in worship once again. Many folks have told me of the loss they feel in their hearts because they have not had communion in months. I feel it too. However, we are also mindful of the rise COVID-19 cases again and must be faithful to our ordination vows to promote the welfare of the people. This does not mean communion cannot happen. This is what we propose:
We recognize that this is not the service to which we are accustomed. But we also believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is present as we celebrate together. The manner in which we are served is not where the mystery lies. It is in the power of the Holy Spirit which transforms us into the Body of Christ on earth as we share the bread and wine in Jesus’ name. We pray that you will join us in doing this with joy!
Rev. Helen Rose
On June 28, 2020, Reverend Helen Rose Moore led the congregation of Woodforest Presbyterian Church in worship. Unfortunately, tech issues interrupted the broadcast on Facebook Live, and the service can be found here and here.
Today, Reverend Helen Moore led us with a sermon titled, "What Do We Do With a Text Like This One? The service can be found here.
Today, Reverend Helen Rose Moore preached on "Access to Grace". The entire service can be found here.
Following the service on 6/7/2020, Reverend Helen Rose Moore convened a Congregational Meeting. The purpose of the Congregational meeting was to elect an Interim Pastor Nominating Committee. Proctors (seen above) were standing by to record the votes by cell phone. The motion is introduced here. Then we broke for the voting process, and resumed to report the results here.
On June 7, 2020, we began broadcasting from our own sanctuary again, with Reverend Helen Rose Moore preaching on "Christ in the Chaos". See the video here. Rev. Moore has graciously agreed to serve as the Moderator of our Session, as we begin our search for a new pastor.
